Get To Know: Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be getting you nice and acquainted with some of the acts performing on Bad Friday.

This week we’re kicking it off with Sydney, alt-country legends, Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys!

Caitlin Harnett and The Pony Boys serve up a warm offering of 70’s alt-country nostalgia. Their highly anticipated debut single, “Make You Feel Blue” was one of our favourite tracks released last year from an act that has garnered the reputation of being one of Sydney’s best live acts!

There’s a lot to expect from a CH & TPB show. First of all, the band have been playing together for 5 years now and are super tight! Secondly, Caitlin’s voice is so warm it could melt Peter Dutton’s heart. Thirdly, it get’s really loose! Long before rappers and glam rockers earnt the reputation of hard partiers, country musicians blazed the path.

Make sure you get down early to see Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys keeping that flame alive and check out what they had to say below!

MBC: You just performed a bunch of shows up at Tamworth Country Music Festival. How was that and tell us about one of the looser nights you had up there?

Tamworth was so bloody wonderful this year. We’ve been going up for the last few years and before that I’d been going with my parents since I was 13. It was really special to have all our mates there this year. Our second last show was pretty loose. I got half the crowd up on stage and just spat beer on everyone. It was so steamy up there. Then we went out line dancing with the locals.

MBC: If you could allow any person from history to ride with The Pony Boys who would it be and why?

Oh man, that’s a tough question. I’m sure the boys all have different answers for this one but seeing as it’s up to me I choose Tom Petty. I’m just obsessed with him. I saw his last show ever in LA the week before he died, I have his name tattooed on my arm and I think he would just be such a legend to hang out with. He’s my ride or die.

MBC: Who on the Bad Friday Weekender lineup are you most keen on?

I’ve never seen Pond before. I think that will be a fun time. Also stoked to see Hayley Mary.

MBC : What’s the baddest Friday you’ve ever had?

I had a pretty wild night in New York City about 6 years ago with the Dandy Warhol’s. We went to a bunch of different bars and then ended up at the top floor of some hotel party and met David Bowie’s producer. That was pretty badass. Not sure if it was actually on a Friday though…

Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys open up Bad Friday on 10th April. Get your tix below.
