The site where Kelly’s stands today was originally built in 1859. After a few pub attempts, Tooth’s and Co sold the building in 1982 to make way for what would turn out to be an unwelcome Mcdonald’s restaurant, McDonald’s apparently conceding to local pressure, closing down in the mid-1990s due to “changing demographics of the area”.

Kelly’s On King Hotel opened on the 16th of September 1999, with an authentic Irish feel. Some years down the track followed the rebrand of the band room to Bootleggers in 2021.

Now standing on its own two feet, Bootleggers has cemented itself as a destination venue, being involved in many community events & festivals while also being a valued gig room in the local band circuit.
