FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 3 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5

Arriving in time for spring, The Music & Booze Co. are excited to announce the expansion of King Street Crawl to King Street Carnival; a multi-genre weekender of music, taking over Sydney Park Amphitheatre and Camperdown Rest Memorial Park from Friday September 3 to Sunday September 5.

Honouring the vibrant and multicultural layers of the Inner West since 2015, King Street Carnival will elevate the much-loved King Street Crawl into a 3 day explosion of music. Showcasing some of Australia’s most well-loved and up-and-coming artists, King Street Carnival will also feature an extended music programming in the myriad of bars, pubs, venues, cafes, shops that line King St and surrounds.

Kicking off with an Elefant Traks Takeover at Sydney Park Amphitheatre on Friday, September 3, King Street Carnival welcomes Inner West royalty Horrorshow to play their first show in 2021. Next up is New Zealand rap powerhouse JessB, crossing the ditch to deliver her fierce mix of hip hop, reggaeton and dancehall. Western Sydney soul trio Planet Vegeta will round out Friday’s lineup, opening with their intense mix of passion and beautiful melodies. Nardean, with a set of warm, smooth RnB, is followed by Auckland’s very own Half Queen. Beloved Sydney/Brisbane selectors Carolina Gasolina and Dameeela will be spinning hip hop selections, keeping the vibes up.

Saturday swaps heavy beats for body-moving guitars, headlining at the Sydney Amphitheatre with the Australian institution that is You Am I.  Up next is Geelong’s fuzz-drenched, seminal band Magic Dirt, the lineup  also featuring pocket rocket and former Jezabels lead singer Hayley Mary followed by punk-rock fanatics Private Function. Continuing the stellar locals list, the fast-rising passion of Johnny Hunter, Sydney’s cult garage punk party drivers Shogun & the Sheets and a welcomed dose of neo-psychedelia courtesy of The Laurels.

Skipping over to Camperdown Park, Saturday punters will be treated to the adored Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, as they turn the clock back to the glory days of ’80s jangle pop. Meanwhile, Western Australia’s Stella Donnelly will take to the mainstage with her honest, beautiful songwriting and endearing charisma. Adding to the heavyweights will be the well-loved The Lazy Eyes, alongside The Buoys. Continuing the euphoric festivities will be Maple Glider as she serves the crowd with balanced lush melodies followed by 12-piece funk collective The Regime and psych-funk favourites Joseph Liddy & The Skeleton Horse.

Strap on your dancing shoes for a Sunday session at Sydney Park Amphitheatre featuring Australia’s renowned live acts, Confidence Man and bass don Touch Sensitive who will deliver a nostalgic mix of funk, disco and electronica grooves. Established Melbourne staple Harvey Sutherland is also set to leave the crowd swaying into the afternoon. Alongside the mammoth bill is multi-instrumentalist Milan Ring and Sydneysider CLYPSO, who will turn it up with a fusion of beats for the ultimate jungle party. Also heading to Sydney Park, Lazywax will be turning on the funk for an afternoon filled with non-stop dancing. New kid on the block, Liyah Knight will also be dipping into old school R&B peppered with a dash of pop alongside respected underground DJ, Setwun

Sunday’s session will be headlined by one of Australia’s most successful and renowned acts, Yothu Yindi. The seminal band will take to Camperdown Memorial Rest Park with their fusion of traditional sounds and contemporary rock. Joining the star-studded lineup is ARIA Award winner Sarah Blasko, as well as Alex The Astronaut, whose rousing campfire anthems have quickly found a place in punter’s hearts. All Our Exes Live In Texas will be bringing folk to the front, before the powerhouse vocals of Emma Donovan & The Putbacks. Sydney’s lush alt-country group, Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys will make a bold appearance alongside EJ Worland.

Expanding to a huge three day, multi-layered festival from Friday, September 3 to Sunday, September 5, King Street Carnival welcomes you all to join the fun this spring. Building on the success of King Street Crawl and highlighting the rich and multicultural tapestry that the Inner West has to offer, King Street Carnival opens up opportunities for the local creative communities and emerging artists to be discovered by festival goers and music lovers alike.
